Local pub that serves great food at reasonable prices. Clean and tidy with restaurant area. We set a challenge. As the more well known restaurants were unable to take a group (14 bowlers) we booked this lovely little pub. Brilliant... 14 hot beautiful meals served almost all at the same time.
Lovely food. Staff were very accommodating.
Disappointed. As locals who have frequented this pub for many years it didnt feel like the same place. Not the warmest of welcomes. Minimal conversation. Lunchtime menu was quite varied so we ordered. Firstly the coffees. It arrived in builders mugs, brim full and just placed on the table. We were asked if we took sugar at ordering..no jug of milk or sugar bowl to help ourselves as is usually the norm. Food arrived in good time. Was suitable for the money. Half way though eating and obviously not finished we were asked if we had finished with our plates. The tables were sticky and place mats had gravy drips on. No background music just the sound of presumably a tv from behind doors. Half the plates were cleared and no offer of a sweet, even though we had left the tab open to do so. No conversation during payment, we left the deserted pub feeling we werent really wanted there.
Great pub.. food is always very good.. large portions. Very welcoming and friendly staff.Cosy atmosphere and open fire.
