Lovely canalside walk. Really well kept. Solid paths of red soil so wear wellies if it's wet. Lots of ducks to look at on the way
Beautiful place to walk, and ideal for bird-watchers or anyone interested in wildlife. Can get busy on weekend days when weather is good. A horse-drawn barge trip is a great way to see it.
Lovely, level, off-road cycle along the canal. We did the whole route, including a loop of the old railway line at Tiverton, which was 26 miles, but lots of shorter routes possible with good access from car parks along the canal. We started at Lowdwells Lock and rode to Tiverton and back, stopping for a picnic, tea and cake in the Canal Tea Room (nice - see separate review) and a cheeky pint in the pub on the way back. A very easy cycle with lots to see. Care must be taken as the path is shared with walkers, anglers and the horse-drawn barge but it's a scenic route which suits a relaxed pace. A lovely day out.
