I recently had occasion to engage Ashfords Tiverton to help me solve a particularly thorny problem concerning my purchase of a leasehold property. Their conveyancing department was excellent and quickly came up with an innovative solution that allowed the purchase to go ahead when I was up against a time limit. I cannot thank them enough. I found their charges entirely reasonable and certainly a whole lot less than some other big name solicitors hereabouts! I think the reviewer above is being somewhat unrealistic if he thinks that any solicitors will not charge for every minute that they spend on your case - after all, their expertise and time is all that they have to sell. And I'm pretty certain that charging for the production of invoices is standard practice.

I've always been very aware that with Solicitors you are charged for every minute you are dealing with them. However when you are charged for producing your invoice and for noting a date in the diary to me this is quite simply daylight robbery. This is bad practice and this is one of the reasons I will NEVER use Ashfords again.I understand that Solicitors charge for there time and I am quite happy with that as I am asking them to deal with something that is simply out of my depth as I am not legally trained. They don't come cheap and again I don't expect them to as generally in my years of dealing with various solicitors they have always got the job done I have asked of them and I have been completely satisfied. If I was asked about my experience with Ashfords I would say that I am quite appalled at there attitude and there money hungry practices, I'm surprised now that when visiting there office I didn't get billed for using there toilets seeing as they seem to bill you for everything else!!!
