I bought a small decorated (with nuts and fruit) fruit cake from Waitrose as my xmas cake. Best fruit cake I've ever bought. It wasn't loaded with sugar, relying on the ingredients for taste. Thank you.
Lisa and the girls made our son's wedding cake which was made up of a layer of Almond cake on the bottom, chocolate and pecan in the middle and fruit on the top. All the guests loved the look of it and they adored the moistness of the almond. The almond cake is the finest cake we have ever tasted. Heaven...Thanks Lisa for everything.
I bought 2 cakes from Mrs Gills stand at Padstow Festival. When I got home we had a piece of the chocolate sponge , lower layer below rather margarine tasting filling was ok but upper layer was stale. The lemon cake which I also purchased had the sell by date the same day as purchased so clearly I was supposed to consume the cake all in one go. A joke as far as I'm concerned and I will certainly be avoiding in future.
Having sampled some of their offerings at Speciality Food this year I can honestly say they were some of the best I have ever tasted. To find a cake that satiates a sweeter desire without any undue heaviness is rare. This is a tribute to quality of ingredients used and mastery of baking.
